Son Pleads Guilty to Killing Elderly Parents in Chilling Whitton Case
At the Old Bailey on Friday, 14 February, Mustafa Arezo, 32, of Whitton’s Redfern Avenue, admitted manslaughter over the deaths of his elderly parents Akbar, 74, and Layla Arezo, 73. His plea was based on diminished responsibility. On Friday, 16 October, he was sentenced to a hospital order under the Mental Health Act.
Family Make Grim Discovery
Mustafa lived with his parents at the family home. On the morning of Friday, 12 July 2019, worried relatives broke into the house after they couldn’t reach Akbar and Layla by phone.
Inside a bedroom, they found the couple’s lifeless bodies and immediately alerted police. Concern grew when Mustafa’s car, a Toyota Yaris, was missing and he was unreachable by phone.
Police Hunt Ends in Slough Arrest
Officers launched a search for Mustafa. At 2.20pm that same day, police spotted his car parked on Merton Road, Slough, with him inside. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and later charged.
Detective Sergeant Steve Elliott said: “This is a tragic case and our thoughts remain with the family of Akbar and Layla who have been through a dreadful ordeal.”
