Police Officer Seriously Injured in Bexleyheath Collision
A police officer was rushed to hospital after being struck by a car during a serious incident in Bexleyheath on Thursday. Emergency services, including paramedics and police, swiftly responded to the collision on Erith Road.
Officer Hit During Foot Pursuit
The drama unfolded shortly after midday when officers were responding to concerns about a woman’s safety on Mayplace Road West. While pursuing a suspect on foot, an officer was struck by a vehicle unrelated to the initial incident.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed:
“We were called at 12:15pm to reports of a road traffic collision on Erith Road, Bexleyheath. We sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, and a tactical paramedic unit. We treated the patient at the scene before rushing them to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
Road Closures and Arrest Made
Erith Road remains closed to both traffic and pedestrians while police investigate. Drivers are advised to find alternative routes to avoid delays.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the injured officer is receiving hospital treatment for serious injuries.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “A police officer has been taken to hospital following a collision in Bexleyheath this afternoon. A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of domestic common assault.”
