Brutal Stamping Assault Rocks Town Centre Park

Last year, Hamdi Braiek viciously stamped on an unconscious man’s head in a shocking attack.

The victim first clashed with Braiek on Week Street on the evening of May 30, 2021. The row started after Braiek made offensive remarks about how a woman was dressed. Tempers flared quickly.

Chased, Tackled & Stomped Into Coma

Braiek chased the victim into Brenchley Gardens, where he tackled him, punched him, and put him in a chokehold. Once the victim lost consciousness, Braiek ruthlessly stamped on his head multiple times.

Onlookers shouted for help, forcing Braiek to flee. The victim, in his 30s, was rushed to a London hospital with serious brain bleeds and placed in an induced coma.

Police Catch Braiek, Link to Multiple Attacks

Braiek was arrested on June 2 after a PCSO spotted a man matching his description in the town centre. A full investigation tied him to three more assaults — including attacks on a man and woman in Fremlin Walk on the same day and another beating close to his home on May 28.

Eight Years Behind Bars for Brutal Offender

Braiek, 34, faced Maidstone Crown Court charged with attempted murder. He was found not guilty of that charge but convicted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, which he admitted, plus two counts of battery.

He was sentenced on June 6, 2022, to eight years and three months in prison and must serve at least two-thirds before parole is possible.

“Hamdi Braiek was responsible for a brutal assault that left his victim with life-changing injuries,” said Detective Sergeant Jamie Webb of West Kent CID. “The victim is sadly no longer able to work and needs constant care.

“Our investigation revealed Braiek committed several other violent offences in Maidstone. He has shown little remorse and blamed others. This sentence ensures he no longer threatens our communities.”
