Violent Suspect Battles Cop, Flings Both Down Three Flights of Stairs
Jason Turiccki, 32, tried to dodge prison recall but ended up in cuffs after a brutal stairwell brawl with a police officer in Huntingdon.
Stairwell Melee Ends with Suspect’s Escape
On 1 July, a cop knocked on Turiccki’s flat door on Ermine Street but got no answer. Waiting in the communal hallway, the officer was soon face-to-face with Turiccki, who stormed in and threw punches.
The fight wasn’t just a scuffle — both men tumbled down three flights of stairs. Turiccki eventually broke free and fled the scene.
Injured Officer Recovers; Suspect Nabbed with Drugs
The officer suffered wrist, knee, shin, and elbow injuries but didn’t need hospital treatment. Turiccki was caught again on 17 July in a Huntingdon garden, arrested for assaulting an emergency worker and escaping custody.
Officers also found heroin on him, landing Turiccki an additional drug charge. He later admitted these offences plus breaching a restraining order.
Judge Hands Down 17-Month Sentence
On 20 November at Cambridge Crown Court, Turiccki was jailed for 17 months.
“Turiccki’s behaviour towards the arresting officer was disgraceful and he ended up making things a whole lot worse for himself in the long run,” said DC Thomas Adams.
“Our officers and other emergency workers deserve to do their job without being subject to violence. We take incidents of this nature incredibly seriously and will do all we can to bring people before the courts who believe this kind of behaviour is acceptable.”
