Brutal Knife Attack in Leicester: Victim Fights for Life After Roof Escape
A chilling attack unfolded in Aylestone, Leicester, when 31-year-old Arfan Hussein stormed into a woman’s bedroom wielding a butter knife last July 14. The victim, in her 30s and known to Hussein, faced a terrifying assault that left her battling for her life.
Knife Assault Turns Violent Brawl
- Hussein and two others forced their way into the victim’s home on a quiet Wednesday afternoon.
- He tried to stab her in the head with a butter knife.
- A friend intervened, grabbing Hussein, who then turned his fury on the woman—kicking, stamping, and punching her.
Meanwhile, a neighbour alerted police after hearing the commotion. Hussein fled before officers arrived.
Victim Climbs Onto Roof to Escape Horror
Desperate to flee, the victim climbed out of a bedroom window onto the roof. Officers reached her and brought her to safety, but not before she suffered catastrophic injuries:
- Fractured right eye socket, nose (two fractures), wrist, thumb, and ribs (two fractures)
- Black eyes and severe cuts, including a lacerated ear canal and hand
- Corneal cut in her right eye and deep bruises to her head
She has undergone surgery to fit a titanium plate in her face and faces ongoing operations every six to 12 months. Nerve damage causes chronic numbness, and she’s awaiting further surgery to regain finger function.
Attacker Locked Up for 8 Years
Hussein, from Maynard Road, was arrested the same day. Denying the charges, he nonetheless faced Leicester Crown Court last week. Found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent, he received an eight-year prison sentence on Thursday, March 3.
“This horrendous attack left the victim so terrified she fled onto the roof. Hussein caused devastating injuries, tried to dodge responsibility, but justice has been served,” said Detective Constable Stephen Williams.
“The victim has shown incredible bravery and determination during a very tough time. I hope this conviction helps her as she fights to rebuild her life.”
