Man Stabs Neighbour to Death Through Front Door Hole

Thomas Allen plunged a knife through a hole he kicked into a neighbour’s front door, fatally stabbing 37-year-old Samantha Murphy. The horrifying attack happened early on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at a property in Elfrida Close.

Victim Dies at Scene Despite Paramedics’ Efforts

Ms Murphy suffered a severe leg wound and tragically died at the scene, despite prompt paramedic attempts to save her. Police rushed in and quickly identified Allen as the attacker. He was caught just two hours later at Clifton Place.

Convicted Killer Sentenced to Life

After a thorough probe by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, Allen, aged 38 and living in Elfrida Close, was charged and convicted of murder at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.

The very next day, he was handed a life sentence with a minimum 27-year term, ensuring he’ll be behind bars for decades.

Argument Turns Deadly After Social Night

Police reports detail that on the night of the stabbing, officers arrived around 3.10 a.m. Witnesses confirmed that Allen, Ms Murphy, and their neighbours had been drinking together. An argument broke out, leading Allen to assault Ms Murphy at their home.

Ms Murphy fled to a neighbour’s house, but Allen followed, kicking a panel out of the door. Reaching through the hole with a knife, he stabbed Ms Murphy as she asked him to leave.

Allen then fled the scene by car but was swiftly arrested by police.

“Thomas Allen’s violent actions have robbed Ms Murphy’s family of a loving presence,” said Detective Inspector Lee Neiles. “I offer my heartfelt condolences to her loved ones.”

“Thanks to quick police work, Allen was caught and will spend a long time behind bars. We encourage anyone suffering abuse or violence to contact police immediately — we are here to protect you and punish offenders.”
