Man Killed in Croydon Hit-and-Run Named
A Romanian man has tragically died after a fatal crash in Croydon. Vasile-Florin Olteanu, 38, was struck by a vehicle while walking along Portland Road at 7.30am on Tuesday, 14 April.
Fatal Collision Details
Emergency services rushed to the scene, finding Mr Olteanu with serious injuries. Despite desperate efforts by paramedics, he died at the scene. His family has been informed.
The black BMW involved fled before police arrived but was found nearby within an hour.
Two Arrests Made, Investigation Ongoing
- A 40-year-old man from Lambeth was arrested the same day on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation.
- On 15 April, a 32-year-old Croydon woman was also arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed to return in mid-July.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Officers are appealing for anyone with dash cam or CCTV footage of the crash or the BMW leaving the scene to get in touch.
