Bradford Man Jailed for Life Over Fatal Stabbing of Roommate

Zbigniew Soj, 24, from Bradford, has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 31 years behind bars. The sentence was handed down today (17 June) at Bradford Crown Court after Soj admitted to the murder and attempted murder of two young women in their shared accommodation on Sherbourne Road.

Tragic Night of Violence

On November 21, Soj brutally stabbed Borbala ‘Bori’ Benko, 24, multiple times, killing her. Klaudia Rogozinska, 21, was also attacked and suffered critical injuries. She is still recovering from both the physical wounds and the psychological trauma.

Soj was arrested at the scene and charged three days later on November 24.

Shock and Grief in Bradford

Detective Chief Inspector Vanessa Rolfe, leading the investigation, said:

“This was a horrific and spontaneous attack on two young women as they slept in their own home. Soj was someone they trusted, and no one could have predicted what he was about to do. Bori had her entire life ahead of her, which Soj cruelly took away.”

She added:

“I applaud Soj’s guilty plea for sparing Klaudia and Bori’s families from a trial. I hope today’s sentence brings comfort and justice to Bori’s family and Klaudia. It’s encouraging to hear Klaudia is recovering and attempting to move on with her life.”

Remembering Bori: A Bright Future Cut Short

Bori’s mother paid tribute to her daughter’s life and dreams in a heartfelt statement:

“Bori had a mission, and she had a bright future ahead of her. She dedicated her life to the education and development of children and lived by Christian values. She quickly earned the trust and love of the children she worked with. Bori believed deeply in human equality and the power of love, which she showed every day.”

Her ambition was to open a special needs school in Hungary. “I will build an inclusive school, and it will be a cool place!” she often said. To honour her dream, the family has launched the Bori Benko Foundation for Children in Hungary, aiming to continue her legacy and make the world a better place.
