Drug Dealer Locked Up After ‘Cuckooing’ Horror in Northampton
Brett James Franks, 46, with no fixed address, was hauled in by police on January 6 after hijacking a man’s home in a vile case of cuckooing. Franks wasn’t just squatting – he was flogging Class A drugs from the property, ruining the victim’s life for months.
Police Smash Drug Operation, Find Heroin, Crack and More
When Northamptonshire Police responded to the victim’s desperate call, they found Franks stocked up with heroin, crack cocaine, Class B pills, a knife, and nearly £600 in cash. He was immediately arrested and charged with four serious drug offences.
Seven-Year Jail Term for Ruthless Drug Dealer
- Seven years for possession of heroin with intent to supply
- Seven years (concurrent) for crack cocaine supply
- Nine months (concurrent) for possession of criminal property (£588.52 seized)
- Nine months (concurrent) for possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply
Judge also ordered all drugs, the knife, and a mobile phone seized to be destroyed. The stolen £588.52 was donated to local charity Service Six, and Franks slapped with a £190 victim surcharge.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage and Warn Against Cuckooing
“It’s very satisfying to see that Brett Franks has admitted to his criminal activity and his significant sentence reflects the seriousness of his offending,” said PC Sean Whelan of Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team.
“The victim was forced to endure Franks dealing drugs in his own home, openly carrying a knife, making him too scared to ask him to leave. This case highlights our commitment to protect vulnerable people from this type of exploitation.”
