Fugitive Paedophile Spelman Back Behind Bars After Police Manhunt

Christopher Spelman, 62, originally from Kirkby, has been hauled back to prison after flouting his licence conditions. The convicted paedophile was first jailed for seven years in March 2014 for indecent assault.

Spelman Busted in Folkestone After Running from Justice

Spelman was released on licence in December 2016 but quickly went on the run. Merseyside police launched a full-on hunt through Dorset and Folkestone, Kent, following tips from the public. Their efforts paid off when Kent officers arrested him in Folkestone on Tuesday, January 4.

Police Vow: No Licence Breaker Escapes

Chief Inspector Paul Sutcliffe said: “Thanks to the hard work and commitment of the fugitive team Spelman has been located and returned to prison. Time is no barrier and we will leave no stone unturned to find people who are wanted – either in connection with ongoing investigations or when they have their licence revoked.”

Spelman will now serve the remainder of his sentence behind bars after breaching his release terms.
