Knife Horror Outside North London Gig Ends With Double Jail Terms
Two men have been locked up for over 13 years after a brutal triple stabbing outside a music venue in North London. CCTV footage and a keen police investigation nailed the offenders following a terrifying April 2022 attack that left three men injured.
CCTV and Jackets Crack the Case
Kieran Morgan, 23, of Berger Road, E9, and Daniel Onyewuenyi, 30, from Forest Grove, E8, were sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on Monday, 9 January. The pair clashed with strangers as they left a gig at the Scala in Pentonville Road, Islington, just after 5am on 19 April 2022.
During a heated fight, Morgan pulled out a knife, stabbing two men in the head and chest. Onyewuenyi stabbed a third man in the thigh before the duo fled the scene. The victims, all in their twenties, were treated by London Ambulance Service and taken to hospital—luckily none suffered life-threatening injuries.
Police Hunt Led to Arrests
Met detectives pored over CCTV footage, spotting the distinctive jackets worn by the attackers. Officers recognised Morgan and Onyewuenyi and tracked them down at their homes. Both jackets matching those in the footage were seized as evidence.
Morgan was arrested on 10 May. He later admitted to two counts of wounding with intent and grievous bodily harm. He also pleaded guilty to threatening a woman with a knife days earlier and received a 7½-year prison sentence.
Onyewuenyi was caught on 25 May. He acknowledged being at the venue that night and owning the jacket in the footage but denied stabbing anyone. He admitted to possessing cocaine with intent to supply and was jailed for 4 years.
Met Proclaim Victory Against Violence
“Morgan and Onyewuenyi were intent on causing harm to others that night and carried out a brutal attack following a minor dispute,” said Detective Constable Luke Martinez.
“Morgan’s knife wounds to head and chest showed no regard for life. It’s only by chance nobody was killed. This could easily have been a murder investigation.
People who think violence is acceptable have no place in our city. Officers work daily with communities to reduce violent crime and bring offenders to justice.”
