PC Ashley Clark Lands Top Spot on National Drugs Expert Committee
Only 13 Officers Make the Cut
PC Ashley Clark has been handpicked as one of just 13 officers nationwide to join the prestigious Drugs Expert Witnesses and Valuation Association (DEWVA) committee. The Substance Misuse officer earned this elite role after submitting a standout CV and application.
What DEWVA Does
Since its launch in 2009, DEWVA has offered vital professional development for drugs officers through national and regional seminars. The committee meets quarterly, alongside monthly communications and the annual DEWVA conference. Its mission? To promote expert witnesses and ensure officers receive top-notch support to sharpen their skills.
Local Pride as PC Clark Joins the Team
Sergeant Graham Whitt, PC Clark’s supervisor, beamed with pride: “I’m absolutely chuffed to bits with Ash making the DEWVA panel. This prestigious position shows his professional skill and reflects the high-quality work from Nottinghamshire Police’s entire drugs team. Having Ash on the committee means Notts Police will influence how drug expert work develops across the UK.”
PC Clark’s Ambition: Shake Up Drug Policing
Former Response cop turned Drugs Expert Witness in 2019, PC Clark said he was “delighted” to snag the committee spot. “The committee helps guide over 1,000 drugs experts nationwide with best practices for independent court reports. I applied because I want to drive real change in policing drug and organised crime investigations. I’m excited for the first meeting.”
