Knife Rampage Outside Pub Ends with Jail for Drunk Driver
Parry Williams, 54, homeless and dangerous, was sentenced today at Plymouth Crown Court after stabbing three men outside the Railway Inn in Stoke, Plymouth.
Stabbing Spree Sparks Horror
The chaos unfolded around 10.15pm on Saturday, 19 September 2020. Williams had just crashed his car into two women outside the Albert Road pub. One woman, 60, was thrown to the ground with bruises all over. Another, 36, was trapped between the car and a wall, suffering multiple broken bones in her left leg – injuries that will haunt her for life.
But the violence didn’t stop there. Williams stabbed three men in a brutal attack. A 53-year-old man was left with multiple stab wounds to his chest and underarm, fighting for his life. A 41-year-old and a 48-year-old also suffered serious stab wounds to their torsos. All three men remain in recovery.
Bloodied Knife and Police Hunt
Williams fled the scene, but police tracked down his unattended car on Beacon Park Road. Officers found damage front and rear, plus a blood-stained knife inside. Minutes before midnight, Williams was found and arrested in a layby on the A30 near Exeter, still with his bloody vehicle.
Judge Pounds Hammer, Jury Finds Guilty
The trial ended with a jury convicting Williams of attempted murder for the 53-year-old man. He had already admitted wounding the other two men. Thankfully, the jury cleared him of attempting to murder the two women hit by his car.
“This was a shocking attack where multiple victims sustained horrific injuries,” said Detective Inspector Andy Hodges, who led the investigation. “Several victims knew Williams. His violent and callous actions caused huge physical and emotional pain.”
“Thanks to the quick action of emergency services and members of the public, the outcome wasn’t even worse,” he added.
Williams now faces a long stretch inside as his victims battle the scars – both visible and unseen – from his terrifying rampage.
