PC Caught Faking Exam Results in Shocking Misconduct Scandal
PC Akim Chartier, once part of the North West Basic Command Unit, has been booted from the police force after admitting to doctoring his exam results. The misconduct hearing, chaired by Assistant Commissioner Barbara Gray on 7 December, revealed serious breaches of honesty and professionalism.
Failed Twice, Then Faked Certificate
Back on 10 March 2021, PC Chartier took a mandatory Police National Computer (PNC) training test. He failed to hit the 80% pass mark on his first try. Undeterred, he retook the exam later that day – and failed again.
Instead of being honest, he altered his certificate to show a fake 80% score. Another officer spotted the suspicious discrepancy, sparking an investigation.
Dishonesty Uncovered – Dismissed Without Notice
Under pressure from officers at the Directorate of Professional Standards, Chartier admitted to faking the results. After reviewing the evidence, Assistant Commissioner Gray ruled he was guilty of discreditable conduct and lacking integrity.
PC Chartier was dismissed from the force immediately – no notice given.
Barred for Life: No More Police Jobs for Chartier
As a result, Chartier’s name has been added to the College of Policing’s Barred List. This means he’s blacklisted from all police jobs and related roles, including positions with PCCs, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, and Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services.
