Predatory Paedophile Jailed for Child Sex Abuse Spanning Decades

Paul Berry, a vile paedophile, has been locked up for 14 years after sexually abusing three children over a 19-year period. His reign of terror began in 1988 when he indecently assaulted a young girl.

Abuse of Boys in 2007 Comes to Light

Berry didn’t stop there. In 2007, he targeted two young boys, making sexual advances and assaulting them. All three victims bravely came forward in 2019, triggering a Northumbria Police investigation.

Jury Sees Through His Lies – Guilty on 12 Counts

The 60-year-old, from Pattinson Gardens, Felling, denied all charges but was found guilty of 12 counts of sexual assault by a jury at Newcastle Crown Court in March. On May 14, he was sentenced to 14 years behind bars.

Det Con Stefan Noakes praised the victims’ courage. He said:

“Berry thought he could get away with his crimes by lying throughout this investigation but the jury saw through his deceit. He now faces the consequences.”

He added:

“The victims endured further trauma by taking the case to trial, but their strength has been incredible. I hope they can now close this awful chapter and move forward, knowing Berry is behind bars where he belongs.”

Serious Harm Prevention Order and Lifetime Sex Offender Registration

Berry has also been slapped with an indefinite Serious Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), restricting his activities upon release. He will remain on the sex offenders register for life.
