Predatory Cabbie Jailed for Rape and Sexual Assaults

Homayon Ahmadi, 23, from Uxbridge, was convicted at Croydon Crown Court on 26 January of one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault. On 16 March, he was handed a hefty 13-year prison sentence, plus seven years on licence.

Victims’ Bravery Helps Lock Him Up

Detective Constable Natalie Alchin, who led the probe, said: “Ahmadi is a predatory offender and we are pleased he is behind bars and unable to cause further harm.”

She added: “The victims played a vital part in securing this conviction. We hope this encourages other women who have suffered sexual offences to come forward.”

Horrific Attacks During Taxi Rides

  • On 19 April 2021, a 41-year-old woman called police after being raped by Ahmadi during a taxi journey where he pulled over and attacked her.
  • Police launched a swift investigation to track down the suspect and the vehicle.
  • While the hunt was on, on 25 July 2021, a 21-year-old woman reported that Ahmadi picked her and a friend up in central London, stopped at an off-licence to buy whisky, then invited them to his home.
  • The women tried to escape on Hornsey Street, N7, but Ahmadi grabbed and sexually assaulted them before driving off.

Cold-Case Crackdown: CCTV and Forensics Nail Him

Detectives traced a CCTV image of Ahmadi buying whisky at the off-licence, and a media appeal led to his identification and arrest in December 2021. Forensic evidence linked him to the earlier rape.

During police questioning, Ahmadi denied all offences. Officers found a purple pencil case in his car containing condoms and baby oil.

DC Alchin: “Other victims may not have spoken out yet. If you think this applies to you, please contact us on 101. Specialist officers are ready to help.”

“You can also report anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
