Fly-Tip Fiend Caught Dumping Rubbish Near Recycling Centre

Mohammed Afzal, 65, has finally admitted to illegally dumping waste across multiple locations near Slough and Buckinghamshire. The prolific fly-tipper was caught fly-tipping right next to a household waste and recycling centre in Chalvey, Slough, where he could have disposed of rubbish safely for a small fee.

Nine Fly-Tipping Counts & More Uncovered

Appearing via videolink at Reading Crown Court, Afzal confessed to nine counts of fly-tipping between May 2019 and June 2020. He used four different vehicles to dump building waste and assorted rubbish at various spots, including:

  • Spackmans Way, Slough – May & June 2019
  • The Myrke, Datchet – July 2019
  • Uxbridge Road, Slough – December 2019
  • The Greenway, Tylers Green – February 2020
  • Allerds Road, Burnham – March 2020
  • St Pauls Avenue, Slough – March 2020
  • Walton Lane, Burnham – June 2020
  • Lake Avenue, Slough – June 2020

He also admitted to using a false waste transfer note and failing to produce a waste carrier licence when requested.

Joint Councils Crack Down on Waste Crime

Prosecutor Nicholas Ham revealed Slough Borough Council and Buckinghamshire Council are pursuing all costs for site clearance and legal action. “We will also request the forfeiture of the vehicles used and a driving disqualification,” he said.

Judge Kirsty Real remanded Afzal in custody ahead of sentencing in December, with all penalties on the table.

Council Chiefs Hit Out at Fly-Tipping Menace

“This man has been not only a thorough nuisance but a fly-tipper leaving council staff to clear up his mess,” said Cllr Pavitar Mann, Slough’s cabinet member for planning and regulation. “Fly-tipping isn’t just ugly, it’s an environmental hazard. Anyone offering waste disposal for a fee must have a proper licence.”

Bill Chapple OBE, Buckinghamshire’s cabinet member for environment and climate change, added: “This case shows how joint enforcement tackles waste criminals. Afzal is the worst kind – repeatedly fly-tipping for profit with zero regard for the environment or society. We await sentencing, when justice will be served.”

Residents are reminded they could be held responsible if fly-tipped waste is traced back to them. The crackdown sends a strong message – fly-tipping won’t be tolerated.
