Paedophile Scott Loakes Avoids Jail Despite Sick Child Sex Offences
Scott Loakes, 27, admitted four child sex offences but bizarrely claimed there was no sexual intent in the messages he sent. He even argued he was trying to boost his victim’s self-esteem during a probation interview.
Chilling Messages and Inappropriate Touch
Loakes, from Hove Road, targeted his young victim last year. Prosecutor Matthew Rowcliffe revealed Loakes sent creepy texts, calling her “beautiful,” demanding photos, and encouraging sex acts. He also inappropriately touched her on one occasion. The victim told the court the ordeal made her “feel scared and a bit sick.”
“He struggles to give any convincing answer when the sexual messages are put to him.” – Prosecutor Matthew Rowcliffe
Victim Left Traumatized
The young victim’s impact statement was harrowing. She revealed she suffers nightmares almost every night and struggles to sleep. Loakes admitted sexual activity with a child, causing or inciting sexual activity, and sexual communication with a child.
Community Sentence, But No Jail
Despite the gravity of his crimes, Loakes was spared jail at Northampton Crown Court on March 18. Judge Rebecca Crane handed him a three-year community order requiring sex offender programme participation and rehab. He must register as a sex offender for five years, follow a sexual harm prevention order restricting contact with the victim, and is banned from working with vulnerable children or adults.
