Vile Thief Scalded with Boiling Water in Prison After Robbing Elderly Lady
A nasty crook who attacked a frail 79-year-old woman has been left screaming in pain after fellow inmates hurled boiling water over him behind bars.
Gruesome Attack Behind Bars
Dean Kenyon, 33, was locked up for a brutal robbery in Consett, Teesside, back in January. He snatched an elderly woman’s handbag so violently she fell and fractured her hip.
While on remand, Kenyon suffered a vicious retaliation. Other prisoners poured scalding water over his arms and legs, causing horrible burns. His injuries were so severe he needed five skin graft surgeries.
Long Criminal History
- Kenyon has 13 previous convictions.
- In October 2020, he shoved another arthritic woman into a shop window and grabbed her purse.
Six Years Behind Bars for Kenyon
The thug pleaded guilty at Durham Crown Court via video link from HMP Durham. His defence lawyer revealed he is now “in constant and searing pain” and heavily sedated, with reduced mobility due to the burns.
“He had boiling water poured over his arms and legs, resulting in skin grafts to be applied. He has had five skin graft operations and his mobility is to be affected by these.”
Judge James Adkin wasn’t impressed. He sentenced Kenyon to six years in prison, plus a three-year extended licence.
The message is clear: messing with the vulnerable can come back to bite – sometimes scaldingly so.
