Bryan Gregory, 76, from Minster-on-Sea, Sheerness, has been locked up for breaching his Sexual Offences Prevention Order. The ex-offender was originally convicted in 2014 at Canterbury Crown Court for making and possessing indecent images of children.
Strict Court Orders Ignored
Gregory’s court order placed heavy restrictions on his digital use. He had to hand over any devices for police inspection and was regularly visited to check his compliance. Restrictions included how he used mobile phones, digital storage, and internet access.
Suspicious Phone Sparks Arrest
During a routine police visit in January 2024, officers became suspicious of Gregory’s mobile phone use. The device was seized for investigation. Police then searched his home and found more digital devices. Gregory was promptly arrested and charged in September 2024.
Four Years Behind Bars
Gregory pled guilty to making indecent images of children and breaching the Sexual Offences Prevention Order. On 21 January 2025, Maidstone Crown Court sentenced him to four years in prison plus an additional four years on licence after release.
“Gregory’s disturbing behaviour — and his complete contempt for the court order designed to protect vulnerable children — means it’s right he’s behind bars,” said Detective Sergeant Vicky Whitmill.
“Proactive, regular checks on sex offenders catch breaches early. When offenders break the rules, we make sure they face the full consequences.”
