Liam Allott Jailed for Over Three Years for Coercive Control
Liam Allott, 37, formerly of Station Road, was sentenced to 37 months behind bars at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday (April 3) after being found guilty of coercive control.
Years of Abuse Exposed
The court heard how Allott subjected a woman in her 30s to relentless abuse spanning from 2015. Over a four-year period, he harassed, threatened, and controlled every aspect of her life.
- Extreme sexual demands and fantasies
- Emotional and mental manipulation
- Financial control
Victim’s Bravery Leads to Arrest
Allott was arrested in February 2020 after the victim bravely came forward to report the abuse. He was charged with engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour.
“I am pleased that Allott has been rightly handed a custodial sentence,” said Detective Constable Sian Rumblow.
“He terrorised his victim over a number of years, controlling and abusing her.
“While it cannot undo the pain he caused, this sentencing can help provide her with closure and allow her to move forward.
“I commend her bravery and courage in coming forward. If you are suffering abuse or know someone who is, please speak to us. You are not alone. Call 101, 999 in an emergency, or report online.”
Long-Term Restraining Order Issued
Alongside his prison sentence, Allott has been slapped with a 15-year restraining order, keeping him away from his victim.
