At Southampton Crown Court on 18 April, McInnes was handed a mere 20-month custodial sentence – suspended for two years. Alongside this, he must sign the Sex Offenders’ Register and adhere to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, both for 10 years, and complete 200 hours of community service.

He was also ordered to forfeit his computer, mobile devices, and pay £425 in costs.

Police Vow to Keep Fighting Child Exploitation

“McInnes possessed an extremely large collection of indecent images of children stored on his devices and some depicted acts of bestiality and extreme pornography,” said PC Ollie from the Internet Child Abuse Team.

“He clearly poses a risk to children and will have strict conditions imposed on him as part of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He will continue to be monitored on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.”

“While he avoided jail this time, our commitment to protecting children across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight remains unwavering. We will ensure offenders face justice.”
