Woman, 20s, raped in Gillingham – man arrested and charged
Horrific assault in Marlborough Road
Kent Police were called at 5.45am on Thursday 18 July 2024 after a woman in her 20s revealed she had been raped in the Marlborough Road area of Gillingham.
Suspect arrested and charged
Officers swiftly arrested 25-year-old Brandon Godden from Jeffery Street, Gillingham, later that day. He has now been charged with rape.
Godden appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 20 July. He was remanded in custody and will face Maidstone Crown Court on Friday 16 August.
Police appeal for witnesses and footage
Kent Police are urgently asking anyone who was near Marlborough Road between midnight and 6am on 18 July to come forward. They want information, dashcam footage, or CCTV, including doorbell cameras.
