Tyre Vandalism Hits Police Patrol Cars in Dartford

The quiet of Home Gardens was shattered late on Saturday, 28 October 2023, when tyres on unattended police patrol cars were slashed at around 10.30pm. The damage left officers unable to use their vehicles and sparked an investigation.

Suspect Nabbed During Unrelated Patrol

Fast forward to Saturday, 9 December, and police on patrol in Attlee Drive spotted suspicious behaviour from a man. Edward Pope, 36, of St Vincent’s Road, Dartford, was arrested on the spot.

Charges Filed Ahead of Court Date

Investigators from the North Kent Victim Based Crime Team quickly connected Pope with the earlier tyre attacks. He now faces two counts of criminal damage and charges for using threatening or abusive language or behaviour. Pope was granted bail and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 1 November 2024.
