Man Arrested After £7,000 Cigarette Robbery and More in Kent
Police were called on Saturday 28 October 2023 after a car was used to smash through the front window of a business on St Stephen’s Road. Thieves made off with cigarettes and tobacco worth around £7,000.
Car and Keys Stolen Days Before Smash-and-Grab
The day before the smash-and-grab, vehicle keys were reportedly stolen from a home in Canterbury, along with the car they belonged to. Around the same time, number plates were taken from a car park in Faversham.
Cash, Bank Card, and Passport Stolen in Further Burglary
On Tuesday 14 November 2023, cash, a bank card, and a passport were reportedly stolen from a house in Canterbury. The stolen bank card was later used to buy items at several supermarkets in the area.
Suspect Scott Barham Busted and Charged
Following an investigation, officers arrested 38-year-old Scott Barham from Beckett Avenue, Canterbury, on 15 November. He is also linked to an attempted break-in at a house in Conyer near Sittingbourne on 7 October 2023.
Barham faces five counts of theft, four counts of fraud, and one count of attempted burglary from a dwelling. He has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on 18 December.
