Man Charged Over Tragic Dover Boat Incident

A suspect has been charged with facilitating attempted illegal entry into the UK following a deadly boat incident off Dover.

39 Rescued, 4 Dead in Nighttime Drama

In the early hours of 14 December 2022, Kent Police and HM Coastguard launched a massive rescue operation after a distress call about a small boat in trouble. They saved 39 people alive while tragically four others drowned.

Investigation Underway as Suspect Arrested

The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, with help from the National Crime Agency, is probing the deaths. On 16 December, a 19-year-old man, Ibrahima Bah, was arrested. He faces charges for knowingly helping asylum seekers attempt illegal entry into the UK.

Suspect Remanded, Court Date Set

Bah, who has no fixed address, was remanded in custody and is due in Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 19 December.
