Teen Car Thief Busted After Raiding Birmingham Homes
Leo Joe, 19, went on a crime spree across Birmingham and Solihull, breaking into homes and nicking high-end motors from February 10 to March 9.
Luxury Motors Targeted in Early Morning Raids
Joe prowled streets in the dead of night, swiping luxury cars including a top-of-the-range Jaguar F-Pace, Volkswagens, Mercedes, and Skodas. His thefts hit areas like Yardley, Castle Bromwich, Stechford, Small Heath, and Sheldon.
Forensic Break Leads to Arrest
Thanks to sharp forensic work and CCTV footage linking Joe’s clothing to multiple offences, the police caught the young crook. West Midlands Police’s Burglary – High Harm Team also found incriminating photos on his phone after arresting him.
His phone history showed he repeatedly searched for false registrations to cover up the stolen cars.
Five and a Half Years Behind Bars
Joe, from The Radleys, Sheldon, pleaded guilty to nine counts of burglary. On October 13, he was slapped with five and a half years in a youth offender institute at Birmingham Crown Court.
“Joe’s actions wreaked havoc across Birmingham and Solihull, causing misery to many,” said PC Chris Senter from the Burglary – High Harm Team.
“He left people terrified after breaking into their homes while they slept and treated the streets like his personal car shopping spree.
“Stopping vehicle theft is a force priority. I hope Joe’s sentence provides some comfort to the victims shocked and distressed by his crimes.”
