Crime Squad Locks Up High-Harm Thugs for Over 91 Years
The Chief Constable’s Crime Squad has smashed crime, locking up dangerous offenders for a combined total of 91 years and six months in March 2022 alone.
Action-Packed March: Arrests, Warrants, and Charges Soar
- 20 new arrests made
- 21 warrants executed
- 112 charges authorised
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Talboys praised his team’s incredible work, saying: “These figures show victims are finally getting the justice they deserve.”
Talboys revealed the squad’s unique approach: “We take cases from the moment a crime is committed right through to the courtroom. Our officers work in plain clothes, specialise in proactive investigations, and even have training to force entry and catch offenders off guard.”
Knife-Point Robbery Thwarted in Rochester
Two men involved in a knife-point robbery at a Rochester business — where a woman was threatened in front of young children — were caught thanks to evidence from ANPR, CCTV, mobile phone data, and witness tips.
They were arrested during home raids and are now serving seven years between them.
Burglars and Thieves Face Tough Sentences
- Three burglars who assaulted and held an elderly disabled woman hostage in her Swanscombe home got 16 years between them.
- A Sheerness man was jailed for seven years after a string of home robberies on the Isle of Sheppey; his two co-offenders had already received 14 years.
- A Gillingham man was handed over four years for knifepoint robbery of shop staff.
- A thief stole a valuable statue from an Ashford home and got two years.
- A car key burglar in Deal got 20 months for stealing a vehicle.
Work continues on major investigations, including a Gravesend man charged with 46 offences mostly involving burglaries in residential areas. Three men face six burglary charges each for crimes across Sevenoaks, Dartford, Loughton, and Bexley.
A conspiracy to steal charge has also been authorised for a man involved in 11 burglaries spanning Whitstable, Faversham, Herne Bay, Aylesham, and Ash.
All suspects are now remanded in custody, awaiting future court hearings.
