Brutal Tunbridge Wells Man Jailed for Sickening Year-Long Abuse
Joshua Hamilton unleashed a terrifying reign of terror on his victim throughout 2020 and 2021. The 24-year-old repeatedly beat her, shredded her clothes, and made chilling threats to kill her.
Violence and Mental Torment Rampant
Hamilton’s abuse was relentless. He punched, kicked, and even tread on his victim’s feet. He pulled her hair, lashed her with a belt, and grabbed her by the throat. But the horror didn’t stop there.
- He forced the woman to stand facing the wall as punishment.
- Tracked and controlled her every move.
- Made constant threats to harm or kill her.
Justice Finally Served at Maidstone Crown Court
Hamilton, of Rankine Road, Tunbridge Wells, was first arrested in April 2020. Charged with assault, criminal damage, sending threatening messages, and breaching bail conditions, he pleaded guilty. On 26 April 2022, he was sentenced and slapped with a ten-year restraining order.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage
“Hamilton relentlessly abused, isolated and tormented his victim. His abhorrent actions were designed to control, humiliate, and degrade a woman living in constant fear for her life,” said Detective Chief Inspector Steve McLean of the West Kent Vulnerability Investigation Team.
“I commend the victim for her incredible courage in facing this ordeal and helping bring Hamilton to justice. Domestic violence is a priority for Kent Police. Anyone suffering abuse should report it and get help – you’re never alone, and there are people ready to support you.”
