Shock as Logan Mwangi Found with 56 Injuries in River
Logan Mwangi’s battered body was discovered in the River Ogmore, Sarn, Bridgend last July. He suffered 56 horrific internal injuries, sparking a brutal murder investigation.
Stepfather and Others Face Murder Charges
Logan’s stepfather, John Cole, 40, told police he was awoken by Angharad Williamson, 31, screaming that Logan was dead. Both adults, along with a 14-year-old, deny murdering the boy. Cole has admitted to perverting the course of justice, but Williamson and the teenager deny all charges.
Gruesome Details from Police Interviews
- Williamson told police Logan had no injuries when he went to bed.
- Logan’s injuries included severe scalp bruises and tears to his liver and bowel.
- When confronted about these injuries, Williamson asked, “Does that mean he suffered?”
- She denied causing the injuries, saying, “No, I didn’t sir.”
- Williamson claimed she didn’t recognise Logan at the hospital due to the extent of his wounds.
- She admitted taking Logan’s tea away the night before because he was “naughty,” but dismissed it as minor punishment.
Tensions Fly as Accusations Exchange at Cardiff Crown Court
Williamson accused Cole of spinning “extravagant” lies about Logan’s death. She branded him “conniving, vicious, and manipulative.” She revealed Cole told her he had “46 convictions” and claimed “he killed him.”
Williamson insisted Logan was “the apple of my eye” and suggested he hurt himself for attention. She firmly denied any involvement, saying Logan was already dead when she woke.
She also said Logan was made to wear a Covid mask at home and described how Cole made him “face the wall”.
Trial Continues Amid Shocking Revelations
Williamson said she was asleep during early morning movements and lights seen outside the house before Logan’s body was found. “If I was awake, Logan would be alive,” she said.
Both adults face charges of causing or allowing the death of a child. The dramatic trial is ongoing at Cardiff Crown Court.
