Logan Mwangi’s Tragic Death: 56 Injuries Found on Body
The body of young Logan Mwangi was discovered in the River Ogmore, Sarn, Bridgend last July, bearing a shocking 56 internal injuries. The brutal extent of his wounds has stunned the community and sparked a high-profile court case.
Step-Father and Others Deny Murder Claims
Logan’s step-father, John Cole, 40, told police he was woken by Angharad Williamson, 31, screaming that Logan was dead. Both Cole, Williamson, and a 14-year-old teen all deny murdering Logan. Cole has admitted to perverting the course of justice, but Williamson and the teenager deny all charges.
Heartbreaking Police Interview Paints Grim Picture
At Bridgend Police Station, Williamson was grilled on each of Logan’s horrific injuries. She insisted, “When he went to bed he had none of those injuries.” Logan had deep scalp bruising and torn liver and bowel, injuries that suggested extreme suffering. When told about these wounds, Williamson responded, “Does that mean he suffered?”
She denied causing any harm, saying, “No, I didn’t sir.” She claimed she sent Logan to bed the night before without incident and recalled, “We went to give him tea, but he was naughty so we took it off him. I’ve only ever done it once before. Missing one meal is hardly the end of the world.”
Claims Fly as Accusations and Denials Clash in Court
Williamson called Cole’s version of events “very extravagant” and branded him a liar over allegations she abused Logan and screamed he was dead. She described Cole as her former partner and claimed he had 46 prior convictions and had even told her, “he killed him.”
She said Logan was the “apple of my eye ever since he was born” and sometimes hurt himself to seek attention. She insists she had “absolutely nothing to do with my son’s death.”
Asked about strange lights and movement outside the house early on the morning Logan died, Williamson said, “I was asleep, if I was awake this wouldn’t have happened, I could have saved him. If I was awake Logan would be alive.”
During police questioning, she mentioned that when she put Logan to bed, “none of those face marks were there.” She also claimed Cole had initially “swept me off my feet” but later became “conniving, vicious and manipulative.”
Trial Continues Amid Tensions and Denials
Cole has admitted to perverting the course of justice but denies murder. Williamson and the 14-year-old also deny charges of causing or allowing the death of a child. The trial is ongoing as the court seeks the truth behind Logan’s heartbreaking death.
