Twins Swipe £14k From Dying Great Aunt in Heartless Fraud

A 91-year-old woman battling cancer was robbed of over £14,000 by her own great niece and nephew just months before her death. Twins Jenna and Jon Dyer, 36, coldly exploited their great aunt’s trust, draining her accounts during her final days.

Daily Cash Drains Uncovered

The chilling fraud unfolded over three months. The Co-Operative bank flagged suspicious activity when the twins made daily withdrawals of the £250 maximum from multiple locations. One shocking incident saw Jenna withdraw £250 while her mother and victim waited helplessly in a car – even twirling on the spot, seemingly unfazed by her crime.

Money wasn’t only stolen from her bank accounts. The victim’s Post Office account, used to pay bills, was emptied, dropping from over £5,000 to just £300 in weeks. Distressingly, she had appointed Jenna as a “permanent agent” on an account just days before the thefts began, unknowingly handing over access to her funds.

Family Shocked by Callous Betrayal

The twins’ deceit came to light when they even sent a photo of their great aunt asleep in a chair to their family – a cruel taunt as the victim suffered. Tragically, she passed away during the investigation, robbing loved ones of a final Christmas together.

“Auntie Eva was 91, the matriarch of the family who lived to support us all,” said the twins’ mother, Marion Goldfeather. “She was inconsolable when she found out Jenna and Jon had stolen from her. It broke her spirit and she gave up on life.”

Marion added, “I am ashamed and will never forgive what they did. Eva showed them nothing but love, yet they betrayed her.”

Court Hands Down Harsh Sentences

Jenna and Jon pleaded guilty to multiple counts of fraud by false representation at Nottingham Crown Court. Jenna was jailed for two years; Jon received two years and eight months behind bars.

Detective Constable Nicola Watson condemned the siblings’ “appalling abuse of trust,” highlighting the emotional devastation wreaked on their family.

“These prison sentences send a clear message: we will not tolerate financial abuse, especially within families.”

The tragic case serves as a stark warning about the horrors of elder financial abuse and the cost of betrayal — not just in pounds, but in shattered hearts.
