Drunken Rampage at Sports Bar Ends in Grievous Injury and Jail
Charlotte Marsh-Jones, 21, from Trowbridge, has been locked up for over four years after a vicious attack at a Swindon nightclub. The court found her guilty of grievous bodily harm following a shocking incident at The Sports Bar on Castle Street.
Bar Fight Turns Violent Over Toilets
The chaos kicked off on the evening of November 29, 2019, when a customer complained about two people occupying a toilet cubicle. Door staff discovered Marsh-Jones inside, heavily drunk and even vomiting. When asked to leave, she snapped.
According to court reports, Marsh-Jones grabbed a glass and lunged at a female door supervisor, slashing a deep 4-5 inch wound across her cheek, through her ear, and down her neck. The attack was so brutal, staff had to restrain Marsh-Jones until police arrived.
Justice Served: Four Years Behind Bars
On July 30, Marsh-Jones was sentenced to four years and three months in prison for the unprovoked assault.
“This was an unprovoked attack on a member of door staff who received serious injuries,” said Detective Constable Simon Rogers of Central CID.
“When asked to leave, Marsh-Jones deliberately picked up a glass and struck her victim. Despite her injuries, the victim bravely held the attacker until police came.”
“Her colleagues gave vital first aid and helped manage the aftermath. Violence like this won’t be tolerated,” added DC Rogers.
The victim was simply doing her job, keeping club-goers safe. This savage assault has shown there’s a heavy price to pay for barroom violence in Swindon.
