Knife-Wielding Shoplifter Gets 3 Years for Derby Road Horror Spree
Danielle Summers, 27, sparked chaos on Derby Road last October when she tried to walk out of a store without paying. After loading her basket, she was caught by staff – and pulled out a kitchen knife before fleeing the scene.
Bold Return with More Theft and Assault
Not done yet, Summers came back 90 minutes later, grabbed booze and food, and shoved another employee on her way out. This wasn’t her first brush with the law either.
Repeat Offender’s Violent Past
Just three months earlier, on July 25, Summers hit a shop in Ulldale Court, Chilwell. She stole goods and later slapped a staff member who tried to stop her.
Judge Sends Repeat Offender Behind Bars
At Nottingham Crown Court, Summers—who has no fixed address—was sentenced to 36 months in prison. Charges include robbery, knife possession, theft, and assault.
PC Luke Barrow of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Summers is a violent shoplifter who seemed to believe she had the right to take whatever she wanted from local businesses. To make matters worse, she became violent and confrontational when challenged about her behaviour. This sentence reflects the seriousness of her offending and I hope provides some comfort to her victims.”
