Violent Shoplifter Jailed After Terrorising Birmingham Shops
Kurtis Gordon targeted shops across Birmingham’s 123 area between June and September last year, leaving staff shaken and injured.
Threatened Staff with Knife During Tesco Robbery
In June 2022, Gordon tried to steal alcohol from Tesco on Aston Lane. When staff confronted him, he threatened to stab them before fleeing with the stolen bottles.
But Gordon was back the next month. An employee recognised him and asked him to leave. Instead, Gordon pulled a knife from his waist and jabbed at the staff member, cutting his finger.
More Attacks Lead to Heavy Jail Sentence
Gordon also targeted Mountain Warehouse in the same area on 10 March. Despite pleading not guilty, the 27-year-old was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison.
He was also slapped with a six-year restraining order banning him from all the shops he attacked.
Police Praise Victims and Celebrate Justice
DC Ed 1 from the High Harm Robbery Team said: “Gordon is a dangerous man who is now thankfully behind bars.
He affected the lives of many retail workers and security guards across Birmingham. All victims showed great courage by standing up to him and attending court to make this possible.”
“We built a strong case against Gordon and have taken a violent, unscrupulous criminal off the streets.”
