Quick-Thinking Neighbour Catches Burglar Red-Handed
On 4 September 2023, Sean McFetridge was out in East Farleigh when he spotted an open front door. Without hesitation, he stepped inside the house. But it wasn’t long before an occupant upstairs caught him. McFetridge made up a lame excuse, saying he needed a glass of water due to thirst. After being told to leave, he quickly walked out.
Victim Discovers Laptop Tampered With
Afterwards, the homeowner realised their laptop had been tampered with. Detectives dusted a socket where the laptop was charging and found McFetridge’s fingerprints. This vital forensic clue led to his arrest on 7 September. He was promptly charged with burglary.
Burglar Pleads Guilty at Maidstone Crown Court
McFetridge, from Lasius Drive, Coxheath, admitted the offence during his hearing at Maidstone Crown Court.
Detective Slams Burglar’s Callous Crime
Investigating officer Detective Constable Josh Littley said: “Burglary is a despicable crime that leaves victims feeling violated and unsafe in their own home. This offender thought nothing of the impact of his crime and cared only about making a quick profit from stealing portable items. A prompt investigation and forensic examination ensured this man was arrested within a few days and is now starting a prison sentence.”
