Cyclist Knocked Off Bike by Hit-and-Run Van in Cooksbridge

Van’s Wing Mirror Smashes Woman Off Bike

Police are hunting a silver or grey van or pick-up after a cyclist was knocked off her bike in Cooksbridge, near Lewes. The shocking hit happened between 2pm and 2.15pm on Saturday, October 1, on Beechwood Lane.

The van drove dangerously close, smashing its wing mirror into the woman, sending her tumbling to the ground. She suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Driver Flees the Scene

PC Martyn Quick from the Roads Policing Unit said: “The driver did not stop at the scene. We believe the area was busy with other motorists because the nearby level crossing barriers were down.”

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage

Sussex Police can be contacted online, by phone on 101, or via email at [email protected]. Quote serial 1123 of October 1.
