Ex-Con Tries to Attack Ex with Meat Cleaver Outside Her Home
James Fitt, 31, homeless and just out of prison, stormed his ex’s house in Trumpington on September 14. He grabbed a meat cleaver from the kitchen and a plank of wood, then confronted her outside with the deadly weapons.
Police Called – Fitt Flees But Gets Caught
The victim dialled 999 and police arrived quickly. Fitt tried to escape by climbing over a garden fence but was nabbed hiding in a nearby car park. CCTV from neighbours caught the chilling attack on camera.
18 Months Behind Bars for Knife Threat
At Peterborough Crown Court, Fitt pleaded guilty to threatening someone with a blade in public. He was slammed with an 18-month prison sentence.
Detective Constable Jess Day said: “I hope the sentence handed to Fitt will show those who carry knives that they will go to prison if they are caught. We’re working to tackle knife-related violence across the county.”
