Man Attacked with Pool Balls in Sock at Gillingham Pub

Police hunt witnesses after a brutal assault at the Fleur de Lis pub on Gillingham Road. The shocking attack happened at 7.45pm on Monday, 16 September 2024.

Victim Suffers Serious Head Injuries

The victim, a man in his 30s, was involved in a scuffle inside the bar. During the fight, he was hit on the head with a sock stuffed with pool table balls. He had to be rushed to hospital for treatment of swelling and cuts.

Suspect Bailed After Arrest

Officers quickly arrested a suspect at the scene. Neil Packer, 59, from Wood Street, Gillingham, faces multiple charges including wounding with intent and possession of cocaine. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court and was bailed to show up at Maidstone Crown Court on 14 October.
