Man Hammered in Brutal Head Attack Outside Home

A 48-year-old man was savagely hit in the head with a hammer during a shocking assault outside his flat in Worksop. The terrifying attack unfolded at around 2.10pm on Monday, May 17, outside the victim’s home on Norfolk Street.

Victim Suffers Broken Cheekbone in Bloodied Scene

Police arrived minutes after the assault to find the victim covered in blood with a broken cheekbone. His attacker had vanished, but officers quickly tracked down a 38-year-old man and arrested him on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and criminal damage.

Police Appeal for Witnesses to Step Forward

Detective Constable Rebecca Hopson slammed the attack, saying: “There is absolutely no excuse for behaviour of this sort. The victim could easily have been much more seriously injured and was lucky not to have been.”

She added: “We are taking this incident really seriously. Our enquiries led to the arrest, and the suspect has now been released on police bail pending further investigations.”
