Appeal after attempted murder in Glenrothes


In a distressing incident near the East End Park stadium, six individuals, including five teenagers, have been arrested in connection with the assault on a 17-year-old Raith Rovers fan. The assault occurred shortly after the conclusion of a Scottish Championship match between uk/news/uk/tag/dunfermline/">Dunfermline" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="Dunfermline" link="linked" id="118546">Dunfermline Athletic and Raith, at approximately 5:30pm on Tuesday, January 2.

A video of the incident, which circulated on social media, captured the harrowing moment when a group of individuals attacked the young Raith fan, leading to his hearing aids falling out and becoming damaged during the altercation.

Police Scotland acted swiftly, resulting in the arrest and charging of three males, aged 15, 17, and 20, in connection with the assault. They have been released on an undertaking to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on a later date.

However, the investigation remains ongoing, and the police have made three additional arrests. These arrests involve male youths aged 14, 15, and 16, all of whom are facing charges in connection with the incident. Law enforcement officials have assured the public that inquiries are continuing as they work to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the assault.

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from both the sporting community and the public, highlighting the importance of promoting a safe and respectful environment for all fans attending football matches. The arrested individuals will face legal consequences as the investigation unfolds, sending a clear message that such behaviour will not be tolerated.
