Serial Shoplifter Flouts Court Ban, Lands Behind Bars

Jesse Barton, 37, a notorious shoplifter, has been jailed for ignoring a court ban that barred him from entering local shops and supermarkets. The Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), handed down in August 2024, specifically banned him from major shopping spots like Ashford Designer Outlet and the Co-op at Brookfield Court.

Barton Caught Raiding Stores Just Days After Ban

Defying the CBO, Barton went on a shopping spree starting Sunday, 5 October 2025. He raided a grocery store and returned twice the next day, stealing food, booze, and household goods. His spree didn’t end there — he also swiped £180 worth of goods from the Loudon Way Co-op.

£650 Worth of Clothes Pinched From Designer Outlet

On 7 October, Barton brazenly strolled into Ashford Designer Outlet’s Kimberley Way branch, which was off-limits under his court order. He made off with clothes valued at £650 before police caught up with him that same day. He was arrested and charged promptly.

Fast Justice: Jail Time for Serial Offender

Homeless Barton admitted to five shoplifting charges and four breaches of the CBO at Folkestone magistrates on 9 October. He was sentenced to five months in prison immediately.

Inspector Sarah Williams said: “Barton’s flagrant violation shows utter disrespect for the court’s orders designed to protect businesses and our community. This sentence highlights how seriously breaches of CBOs are taken. It’s a stark warning to others — break the rules, and prison awaits.”
