Teen Jailed for Brutal Daylight Stabbing of 17-Year-Old in London Park
A 17-year-old has been locked up for six years after fatally stabbing fellow teen Khaled Saleh in broad daylight at St Mary’s Churchyard, Paddington, last June.
Fatal Fight in Central London Park
The deadly attack unfolded on June 19 in a busy London park. Khaled Saleh, just 17, was left critically wounded following an altercation. Despite bystanders trying to help, Khaled sadly died from his injuries.
The teenager caught behind bars remains anonymous for legal reasons. He was sentenced at the Old Bailey for manslaughter and will serve six years in a youth detention centre, plus an extra two years on license.
Knife Crime Sparks Outrage
Detective Inspector Ollie Stride, who led the Metropolitan Police investigation, slammed the savage assault. He said, “The violence used in this attack left Khaled with little chance of survival.”

- Despite opportunities to walk away, he targeted the unarmed victim.
- He continued stabbing even after Khaled had fallen and was defenseless.
The assailant fled with two mates, leaving Khaled to bleed out as shocked witnesses scrambled to help.
Evidence and Conviction
CCTV footage captured the chilling assault and helped police identify and arrest the suspect the following day. During the probe, officers found the attacker tried to cover his tracks by wiping his phone and removing the SIM card within an hour of the attack.
They also recovered a distinctive jacket he wore during the stabbing and a large knife at a related address, though the exact murder weapon was never found.
The defendant claimed self-defence at trial, but CCTV and other evidence brutally contradicted this.
On April 29, the teen was sentenced to six years detention, plus a two-year license, sending a strong message against knife crime.
Det Insp Stride reflected on the tragic cost, stressing the urgent need to tackle knife violence in communities.
