Center Parcs Horror: Man Jailed for Sex Attack on Teen Girl
A shocking sex attack rocked Sherwood Forest’s Center Parcs when 29-year-old Caden Crossley launched a “cruel and cynical” assault on an underage girl. Nottingham Crown Court heard how the victim’s family kindly let Crossley stay in their lodge after a fallout with his partner forced him out of his own cabin.
Trusted Guest Turns Predator
Crossley had built a friendly bond with the family, so they welcomed him without hesitation. But in a devastating betrayal, the teenager woke to find Crossley lying in her bed. He proceeded to sexually assault and rape her, leaving the girl traumatised.
Forensic evidence later tied Crossley directly to the horrifying attack on the victim, known only as Child E to protect her identity.
12 Years Behind Bars For Callous Assault
Judge Michael Auty KC slammed Crossley during sentencing: “You were kicked out of your lodge, effectively homeless. Child E’s mother took you in out of kindness. She did not have to, and I imagine she blames herself daily.”
The judge was quick to add that the victim’s mother bears no blame, applauding her compassion. He condemned Crossley’s brutal breach of trust and stressed the lifelong damage inflicted on Child E.
Criminal Past and Lifetime Restrictions
Prosecutor David Eager outlined how Crossley, ejected from his cabin after a dispute, was invited to stay at the family’s lodge during the summer of 2022. The assault happened in the early hours.
Crossley, a former Leeds resident now held at HMP Stocken, pleaded guilty to rape and sexual assault of a child. He had already served five years for unrelated firearms offences.
He’s been handed an eight-year custody term plus a four-year extended licence for dangerousness. He must serve at least six years before parole. Additionally, Crossley faces lifetime registration as a sex offender and a sexual harm prevention order.
Detective Constable Gemma Sidebottom of Nottinghamshire Police praised the victim’s bravery and expressed hope the sentence brings her some closure.
