Bracknell Man Jailed for Brutal Garden Stabbing
Charlie Carter, 22, from Greenham Wood, Bracknell, was slammed with an 18-month prison sentence after a brutal assault in May 2020. The jury at Reading Crown Court delivered a unanimous guilty verdict for Section 20 GBH on Friday, November 13.
Shocking Attack in Victim’s Own Backyard
On May 9, 2020, Carter broke into the back garden of a 21-year-old man’s home in Appledore, Bracknell. Without warning, he stabbed the victim in the back with a shard of glass, leaving him seriously injured and rushed to hospital.
The victim was discharged after treatment but endured a terrifying ordeal in front of his family. Carter was arrested and charged the very next day.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
“This was a terrifying experience for the victim, an unprovoked attack in his own garden in front of family,” said Helen Lord, Designated Investigator at Loddon Valley police station.
“Carter’s actions caused considerable fear and distress. The victim had to attend hospital for treatment. He will now serve a prison sentence and hopefully reflect on his actions.”
“I want to thank the victim for their bravery in assisting the investigation and giving evidence. We hope they can move on now Carter is behind bars. Thames Valley Police will continue to pursue violent offenders in our communities.”
