Convicted Child Rapist Banged Up Again for Breaking Sex Offender Rules
James Bodenham, jailed for raping an 11-year-old girl, is back behind bars. This time, he’s been locked up for flouting sex offender registration rules.
How Bodenham Was Caught
Bodenham was originally arrested in March 2014 after the victim’s parents reported the attack. Police swooped on his home, where they found clothes matching those worn by the attacker. DNA tests sealed his fate, leading to two rape charges.
He pleaded guilty to one charge and got eight-and-a-half years at the Old Bailey. Bodenham served his full sentence and walked free on March 1, 2023.
Reoffending and New Charges
But Bodenham didn’t stay out of trouble for long. He failed to check in with police within the required three days of release – breaching the sex offender register.
His problems piled up when he was arrested on November 8, 2023, in Lambeth for possessing cannabis. The next day, he appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court, admitting to both offences.
Sentencing Delayed After Suspected Drug Smuggle
Bodenham was due to be sentenced on November 28 at Inner London Crown Court. However, the hearing was postponed after he allegedly swallowed a suspicious drug parcel at HMP Thameside.
His sentencing has now been pushed back to mid-December. Authorities will be watching closely as this dangerous offender faces justice once again.
