County Lines drug dealer jailed for nearly five years after brutal attack on police at Preston Park station

Violent Arrest at Preston Park Railway Station

Kelvin Thompson, 27, from Cambridge Road, Bournemouth, was locked up for 57 months after a violent tussle with officers during his arrest on September 3, 2024.

The British Transport Police’s County Lines Taskforce nabbed Thompson acting suspiciously at Preston Park railway station. When questioned, he dodged answers and acted shifty. A stop and search uncovered three mobile phones and a concealed package under his clothes, believed to hold drugs.

Things escalated quickly when Thompson tried to escape while handcuffed, managing to free one hand.

Brutal Assault on Officers

  • He kicked one officer in the groin.
  • Another officer slammed their back against a wall during the struggle.
  • Thompson bit a third officer, refusing to release the bite until restrained.

Police finally subdued Thompson and found two packages containing crack cocaine and heroin worth around £1,500.

Police Speak Out Against Attacks

Detective Constable Chris May slammed Thompson’s actions.

“Thompson’s behaviour was totally unacceptable. We won’t tolerate attacks on our officers or emergency workers and will prosecute anyone who attacks those just doing their job.”

The County Lines Taskforce, experts at hunting down drug trafficking on the rail network, were praised for their rapid response.

“If you are using the rail network to transport drugs, we will find you,” warned DC May.

Hard Time Sends a Clear Message

Thompson’s heavy sentence sends a stark warning to drug traffickers and those who attack police.

The County Lines Taskforce will keep cracking down on crime along the railways to protect the public and keep justice served.
