Predatory Paedophile Jailed for Nearly 12 Years
A vile predator who targeted young teens has been locked up for multiple sexual offences. Sol Barrett, 24, used deception and lies to exploit vulnerable victims.
Deceived Victim Taken to His Home, Not Hospital
Barrett tricked one teen he had previously assaulted by taking her to his Crawley home instead of a medical centre. The victim needed urgent care after an earlier attack on June 17, 2022, but Barrett abused her trust instead.
Social Media Lies Lead to Further Abuse
On December 18, 2022, Barrett targeted another underage girl via Snapchat, pretending to be older than he was. His manipulation was uncovered by the girl’s mother, sparking a police probe that led to his arrest.
Hard-Hitting Sentence for Lewes Crown Court Predator
At Lewes Crown Court on August 7, Barrett pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 11 years and 8 months behind bars. He must serve at least two-thirds before release. His sentences for each crime will run one after the other.
- He faces a 14-year supervised release period after prison.
- Barrett is indefinitely listed on the sex offender register.
- A 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order is in place.
“The victims showed incredible bravery coming forward,” said Detective Sergeant Ellen Jones. “Thanks to the strong evidence, Barrett had no choice but to admit his crimes. We remain committed to protecting the community and delivering justice.”
