Brighton Bus Shock: Woman Escapes Attempted Rape in Early Hours
Police have launched an urgent appeal after a horror attempted rape in central Brighton. The terrifying ordeal unfolded just after midnight on Sunday, June 29.
Victim Boards Bus in Distress
A local bus driver flagged down officers at around 12:10am after a visibly shaken woman jumped on at Old Steine. She told the driver a man had just tried to rape her in a nearby alley off North Street.
Alarmingly, the suspected attacker also boarded the bus but quit the scene before police arrived.

Detectives are taking the case very seriously. They have released a CCTV snapshot of a man they want to identify and question about the incident.
“We take reports of rape and attempted rape extremely seriously,” said Detective Inspector Alice Button. “We urgently ask anyone who recognises this man or has any information to contact Sussex Police immediately.”

Officers are also desperate to find the woman involved, believing she holds critical details to fully understand what happened.
