Notorious Drug Lord Curtis ‘Cocky’ Warren Walks Free After 14 Years

Curtis ‘Cocky’ Warren, once Britain’s most wanted drug kingpin, has been released from prison at age 59. The infamous Merseyside crime boss served 14 years at the maximum security HMP Whitemoor in Cambridgeshire.

Warren, whose drug empire was valued at £200 million, was jailed in 2009 for a £1 million cannabis smuggling operation. Now freed, he plans to return to his old stomping grounds in liverpool/" title="Liverpool" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Liverpool.

Strict Bail Conditions Clamp Down on ‘Cocky’

Despite walking out of jail, Warren faces a web of tight restrictions designed to keep him under close watch. He is banned from using social media apps like WhatsApp and Facebook. Any contact with friends requires 24 hours’ notice before entering their cars.

Warren is only allowed to carry up to £1,000 cash and cannot deal in cryptocurrency. The National Crime Agency (NCA) has launched a five-year probe into his finances, determined to keep tabs on the ex-criminal mastermind.

‘Cocky’ Warren’s Life on a Leash

His barrister, Anthony Barraclough, revealed Warren’s immediate priorities: “The first thing he wanted to do was see his mother. He simply desires peace and quiet. He is allowed to live a normal, decent life.”

But any breach of his bail conditions—such as travelling to Scotland without seven days’ notice—could land him back behind bars for up to five more years.

The UK’s Answer to Pablo Escobar?

Warren’s outlaw reputation is so notorious, he’s often compared to the Colombian cartel legend Pablo Escobar. Unlike Escobar, who died in a police shootout in 1993, Warren’s fate is now tied to a tight leash of law enforcement monitoring.

The NCA insists, “Action against serious and organised criminals does not end with a conviction.”

Curtis ‘Cocky’ Warren may be out, but all eyes are watching. Will the former drug lord truly go straight, or is this just the calm before the storm?
